COACH FRANCIS CUMMINS LOOKS AHEAD TO SUNDAY’S VISIT OF HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS
Q: Following last week’s defeat, what are your thoughts ahead of Sunday’s game?
A: It is going to be another tough test for us. Huddersfield are showing glimpses of what they are capable of, but they haven’t found top gear just yet. Hopefully they won’t find it for another week!
Q: How are you looking for your side to improve this weekend?
A: We have overplayed in recent weeks, so we just need to be a little calmer really. When had three chances against Hull FC, last Friday, and we took two of them. On the third occasion, we panicked a little and came up short. Against the top teams, you have to be smarter, you have to hold things together.
Q: What are Huddersfield’s biggest threats, where will they test your side?
A: They have dangerous players all over the park. They will attack us straight down the middle, but they have a lot of good play in them and their backline is pretty impressive.
Q: You might well be still stuck on minus points, but there are a couple of clubs within touching distance. Does that provide the players with added confidence?
A: The end of the season is a long, long way away. We are doing everything we can do pick up victories and our first goal is to make it back to zero points. You never know what is around the corner. We target every game as a must-win, we want to win every game and that is the aim.
Q: How is the squad looking fitness-wise, are there any injuries?
A: We have some bumps and bruises, but we should be ok for the weekend. Almost everyone is in full training again and Chev Walker will be back on Sunday, with Luke George also coming back into contention. Dale Ferguson is really struggling, though, at the moment. He broke down in training this week, meaning he is going to have to go under the knife. We probably won’t see him close to full fitness now for another month or so. But, when he gets back, it will be like we have made a new signing.
LUKE GEORGE has been included in Bradford Bulls head coach Francis Cummins’ 19-man squad for Sunday’s visit of Huddersfield Giants.
The three-quarter was ruled out of contention for last Friday’s trip to Hull FC, having suffered concussion in the Bulls’ victory over London Broncos the weekend prior.
But the 26-year-old has been passed fit to feature this weekend, meaning George returns to contention to face his former Giants team-mates.
Injured loanee Greg Burke misses out, while Anthony Mullally is ineligible to feature against his parent club, paving the way for youngster Alex Mellor to feature in boss Cummins’ pre-match squad.
Bradford Bulls' 19-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, March 16 (kick-off 3pm): Danny Addy, Danny Bridge, Matt Diskin, James Donaldson, Jamie Foster, Luke Gale, Luke George, Adam Henry, Elliot Kear, Brett Kearney, Manase Manuokafoa, Alex Mellor, Adam O’Brien, Tom Olbison, Adrian Purtell, Oliver Roberts, Adam Sidlow, Liam Sutcliffe, Chev Walker.
- Jamie Foster needs 14 points to make up a total of 200 for the Bulls.
- Luke George requires only two tries to reach a career total of 200 points.
