Who We Are

The Bradford Bulls Community Foundation is headed up by a Board of Trustees with a diverse range of both skills and experience to support the development and longevity of its work within Bradford and its surrounding communities. 

Trustees include: Ryan Duckett (Chairman), Phil Barker, Joanne Drapier, Stuart Duffy, Paul Goodman and John Mason.

Seven full-time staff currently sit under The Bradford Bulls Community Foundation, as well as utilising many Volunteers within its diverse provisions.

Full Time Staff 

Adam Payne - Community Rugby League Coach 

Adam, one of the most recent additions to the team, previously held a role as a Tutor/ Community Coach at Wakefield College. Whilst in a volunteer capacity, Adam was involved in coaching at Lock Lane ARLFC, and on both the Wakefield Wildcats Scholarship Scheme and Service Area. Currently working towards his UKCC Level 3 R.L Coaching Qualification Adam  applied and successfully acheived his full time position with the Bulls Community Foundation in June 2010.

Adam's role, funded by both the RFL and the Foundation, is responsible for the delivery of quality Rugby League coaching and the planning and organisation of its development in a variety of local settings, such as schools, Further/Higher Education establishments, community Rugby League clubs and other community sector organisations within the East Bradford area.  Adam seeks to build positive relationships with the aim of strengthening Rugby League participation within the Bradford & Keighley Service Area.

Carl Cawood - B-Active Co-ordinator   

Carl is another product of both volunteering with the team and of the University of Leeds, where he studied and subsequently acheived his Bsc Sport & Exercise with Psychology. He became involved with the team in 2006 through a voluntary work placement and having continued to volunteer throughout the course of his study, was offered his full time position in 2008 upon completion of his degree.

Carl's role is funded by sectors of the Integrated Youth Service and the Foundation, with his position being responsible for engaging young people between 13-19 years in diversionary activities. The project, which has many different facets, looks to promote positive behaviours and support, whilst aiming to assist in the reduction of crime rates by engaging young people who are in alternative or no education, and also who are currently or  at risk of offending.

Duane Straugheir - Community Rugby League Coach  

Duane, having signed as a player for the Bulls from amateur side Normanton Knights upon leaving school at 16, successfully completed an apprenticeship in Active Leisure and achieved a Level 2 Fitness Instructing and Gym Based Exercise qualification during his full-time employment in the fitness industry. After showing interest in taking up a greater role with the club, Duane initally came on board as a member of staff in 2008, whilst steadily progressing his way to earning a regular position in the clubs Reserve Grade outfit.

Duane's role, funded by both the RFL and the Foundation, is responsible for the delivery of quality Rugby League coaching and the planning and organisation of its development in a variety of local settings, such as schools, Further/Higher Education establishments, community Rugby League clubs and other community sector organisations within the West Bradford area.  Duane seeks to build positive relationships with the aim of strengthening Rugby League participation within the Bradford & Keighley Service Area.

Katie Meyerhoff - Community Development Co-ordinator  

Katie is a product of volunteering at the club and of the University of Leeds, first starting with the Bulls back in 2005. She progressed quickly to a part-time position, finally securing her full time position with the team in 2007 through her hard-work and dedication. Hosting experience from working with both Hull FC and Warrington Wolves through volunteer placements, Katie went on to complete her BA in Sports Development and P.E in 2008 alongside her full-time role's commitments.  

Katie's role is all encompassing, and involves the co-ordination of all of the Bulls Community Foundation's activity.

Richard Tate - Community Rugby League Coach 

Richard, one of the most recent additions to the team, originally became involved with the club back in 2008 as a coach on our successful Scholarship Scheme. After pursuing a part time community role with Leeds City Council in Rugby League development, Richard applied and successfully acheived his full time position with the Bulls Community Foundation in June 2010. 

Richard's role, funded by both the RFL and the Foundation, is responsible for the delivery of quality Rugby League coaching and the planning and organisation of its development in a variety of local settings, such as schools, Further/Higher Education establishments, community Rugby League clubs and other community sector organisations within the South Bradford area.  Richard seeks to build positive relationships with the aim of strengthening Rugby League participation within the Bradford & Keighley Service Area.

Volunteers

The Bradford Bulls Community Foundation views the role of volunteers as essential to both its function and development as a community organisation and also to our local community, as such maximising the use, skills and effectiveness of all its volunteers.

Martin Bass - Volunteer  

Martin, a fan of the club since the late 1960's, worked as an Electrical/Instrumentation project engineer for the most part of his career. Formally a Supporter's Club Chairman, Martin's passion for the Club led to his subsequent involvement with the Bulls Community Foundation from 2006 - 2008 in the role of Heritage Officer as part of the 'Bull's Heritage Project'.  

Martin's current volunteer capacity covers a number of highly successful community activities relating to the club's heritage, penning heritage features for the Club's Gameday Magazine, however, most notably, providing substantial assistance in the Foundation's latest successful Heritage Lottery Fund Bid.

John Downes - Volunteer  

John, a fan of the club since the early 1950's, spent 25 years as a teacher within primary education and was Headteacher at Mill Lane school in Batley before retiring in the early 1990s. 1996 saw John join the Bulls Community Development Department, organising education programmes for the club's then 'Super League Trainee' players. Latterly, from 2006 to 2008 John fulfilled the role of Heritage Officer as part of the 'Bull's Heritage Project'.

John's current volunteer capacity covers a number of highly successful community activities relating to the club's heritage, most notably providing substantial assistance in the Foundation's latest successful Heritage Lottery Fund Bid.

John Mason - Foundation Trustee & Secretary   

John, another fan of the club since the early 1950’s, first became involved with the Community Development Department at the start of this decade through his role as Youth and Schools Liaison Officer for West Yorkshire Police. On the inception of the Bradford Bulls Community Foundation in 2004, John was appointed as a Trustee for the Charity and on his retirement in 2005, his active volunteering commenced.

Still currently serving the Foundation as Trustee, John's volunteer capacity covers a number of highly successful community activities relating to the club's heritage, most notably a lead involvement in the charity's two successful Heritage Lottery Fund Bids.

Last, but certainly in no way least we also have a fabulous group of Junior Volunteers who assist in various aspects of the Bull's Community Foundations work, including Administration, New Medium P.R, and Holiday/Matchday provision.
