IT ALL WENT WRONG AT WARRINGTON
Well it all went wrong in the last twenty minutes at Warrington. We started well enough and scored some points but we made far too many errors. All the errors we made were unforced too and things like dropping the ball in our own quarter meant we had far too much tackling to do and that came back to bite us on the backside late in the game. We defended our try line really well in the first half and we were proud of that effort but eventually it took its toll and cost us dearly at the end. The back to back tries they scored from their strike players killed the game off for us and we were all really disappointed. We had got three back to back wins and we were looking to get a roll on and I do think Warrington were there for the taking and that's what makes it so disappointing. Doing all the stats reviews and watching the game again the scoreline didn't reflect the way the game had panned out and we were well in it up to those three quick tries on the hour.
We will need to be on our mettle this week because we have a difficult trip to Hull. I think we just need to play for eighty minutes, which I don't think we have done yet. We have started poor in some games and we need to concentrate on putting it together for the full game. We went to Hull in the last game of last season and really played well and got the result and we have to do that again. We are also aware that they will be looking to bounce back after their defeat to Wigan, so they will be hurting just like us and it will be a clash of whoever reacts the best. They have recruited very well in the off season and I know some of the boys there and they are feeling pretty good about themselves this year. The KC is a great stadium to play at- I was there myself for a while - and the surface is always good, so it's got all the makings of a great game on Friday. The place has a great atmosphere and their supporters are very good, so we will need to quieten them down. The message for the supporters is that we are a very good side and we'll keep improving and we are all aiming to go to Hull and get back on track. The Warrington defeat has not knocked our confidence because we know what we can do. We are definitely up for this game and we can't wait for Friday.
The results we have seen in the last few weeks are all pointing to the fact that the competition is certainly more level than it has ever been and you can be well up one week and down the next. That means that any side that gets a consistent run together will rapidly climb the table and we need to get that roll on.
It was very disappointing for Langers last week. He has been our stand out performer over the past few weeks and unfortunately he went down with a sickness and diarrhoea and all I can say is that it must have been bad to keep him out. He will play through anything and is a true warrior but he was realistic and knew that he would be no good. He was a massive loss to us; he regularly makes 40 tackles and does 28 hit ups every game and it will be good to have him back this week.
I have new decided that the ‘Playstation' is the flavour of the month. I have talked my brother into selling me his Playstation 3 and I am going to be taking on Beaver, Rikki Sheriffe, Chris Nero, Paul Sykes and Glenn Hall. There is a massive team of us now who are well into it and we have a bit of a league going on now.
I thought the support was tremendous at Warrington and they stayed right until the end. Their support showed in the way the players all went over and clapped them at the end. When you have had a loss you just want to get off the field but we knew how good they had been and I hope we get a similar turnout this week at the KC.
