WE NEED TO START BETTER

Once again I have to start with talk of a defeat and it's getting boring for me as I am sure it is for you. If we had started the game with the same intensity as we did the second half then I am sure it would have been a totally different result. We generated a lot of momentum on the back of some strong running and big defence.  We really tested them and got a lot of quick play the balls.  We stuck to the game plan too and such as Luaki and Willie Manu never really got a sniff.  We definitely did a job on then and played off the back of some quick play the balls.  In the first half we gave away too many soft tries and conceded too many points - the interception just on half time was a killer but we were composed at half time and talked about getting momentum going and that if we did that we would be in with a chance.  After speaking to some of their lads they felt they were gone and were there for the taking but it was a really special play by Jordan Tansey to put them a score in front after we had levelled.  It was a good time to score but realistically we gave ourselves too much to do after the way we played in the first half.

This week it's a trip to London to play Harlequins and it's a short turnaround - the game is on Friday- and that's good when you have had a defeat because you want to get out there again as quickly as possible.  It's good to get away as a squad too, although it's not quite the same as when we go to France and we will be looking for the performance.  We need the result too but if we get the performance then I am sure the result will follow.  We are disappointed with the losses on the bounce but we are training hard and sticking together and we are sure we will turn it around.  Winning is a habit and we just need one to get the ball rolling.

I haven't really talked about the Tipping Competition this season and it's being run by Nick Scruton and his girlfriend.   Scruts is not for buying whereas Big Joe and Burgess were open to offers from some muffins!! Scruts is away this week so Tatey is under some pressure to get the show on the road but he'll manage!  I was bottom but I have moved up to mid table and everyone is trying hard to get there and be in the money for their holidays at the end of the year!!  Those at the bottom are really panicking- Crookesy and Elliott- as they can see a big bill coming for the rest of us at Nandos at the end of the season!  I can see them turning up with no money!!

Sadly my dream of winning BK's sweep came to an end when Uruguay were knocked out last night.  I thought we played well against Ghana and Suarez didn't really handle the ball and his ban was disgraceful!!  Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!  Seriously I have never watched as much football in my but now my side are out and the Uruguayan Yeti is no more that will probably be the end of my World Cup but the last few games I have watch have been very entertaining.

This week we have had an intake of new signings at the club. They have been through the scholarship and academy systems that were in place when I was starting at Castleford but to be honest they have improved a lot since then and Bradford Bulls is a really good set up.  We have a lot of high quality juniors now at the club and these new players are all very good.  Steve Mc brought them all into the room to introduce themselves and I can remember when I had to do that; it was very nerve-racking and to be honest they looked like they were all having their police photos taken they were that scared but the boys are all very good here and quickly made them feel welcome.  I don't know if Paul Medley is doing it on purpose but we seem to signing a lot of ‘Big Reds'.  Tom Olbison and Steve Crossley are delighted with this year's intake because there are another couple of ‘Reds' to join them.  Steve is the original Big Red and they are delighted with Ginger people that have arrived and their gang is getting a lot stronger!!

I'l see you all in London.
