BAD RESULT AT CASTLEFORD

Again we were disappointed at Castleford in a game we should have really won. It was end to end stuff - we scored; they scored- but we made too many errors in important parts for the field and we gave away too many penalties.  They scored off a few kicks as well and that's disappointing because we should have defended them better.  We up the intensity to get back into it at the end but it was to no avail and it was another one that got away.  I keep saying every week that we are hurting but we will stick together and work hard for each other.  We are a very close team and we will keep training hard and working on things and we know we are good enough to turn in round.  We need to get back to our standards and I am sure we can do that this week.  We are not struggling to score points so we know we need to up the defensive past of our game and get our combinations working and we'll be OK.  We really need to respect the ball and not give those silly penalties away.

It's another of my old clubs this week - Hull FC - and they keep coming round thick and fast at the moment.  I spent a year there and I know lots of their players.  I still speak to Ewan Dowes and Radders and I know a lot about them.  They are a quality side who have brought a lot of quality players to their club.  They will of course be missing Sean Long this week and that will be a big loss for them but they still have a lot of high quality players in their side.  They are up there, competing week in and week out and we know it will be hard for us but we are at home and we love having the Bulls supporters behind us.  We have trained hard this week - with a smile on our face - and we are really looking forward to the game on Sunday.  Hopefully we will start enjoying playing and not putting pressure on ourselves and get the good times rolling again.

This week we have had the disappointing news about Nick Scruton.  It's a big blow for us because he is one of our leaders; one of our aggressors and he has been playing awesome this campaign and to be fair since he first put a Bradford shirt on.  To play that many games consecutively, particularly at Prop, shows just what a quality player he is and he is a massive loss for us.  I am really disappointed for Nick too because his England call up was well deserved but he is a great worker and I am sure he will defy the odds and be back - just like Lynchy - before the time they have allotted for his recovery and will be back on the field with us again sooner than they think!.

This week we had a team bonding exercise at Pugney's Water Park in Wakefield.  We did some training in the morning and then headed off to Pugneys.  The old blokes certainly showed the young ones just who is best.  The young lads went off Orienteering and they had a bit of a shocker.  I think they ran miles doing the extra laps of the Park, trying to find out where they were whilst we built some rafts.  The old guys built a couple of rafts and we split into an Aussie group and an English one and really got to grips with that.  Lee St Hilaire and Langers were the brains behind our raft and Beaver and Nero were in charge of the Aussies.  They people at the Lake said they had never seen a raft built in such a quick time!!  The young guys were still Orienteering and then we swapped over.  They built a couple of rafts and they both sank and it was hilarious when we got back to see them all swimming in the lake with no sign of the rafts!!  George Burgess must have been in about an hour!!  Still it was a great team bonding exercise and everyone enjoyed it.

I'll see you all on Sunday.
