IT WAS A GREAT COMEBACK AT BELLE VUE
We certainly turned things round at half time in the game at Wakefield. We certainly weren't happy with our performance in the first half and we addressed it and so did Macca. We made far too many errors; we weren't completing our sets and making some stupid offloads and we gave Wakey a 10-0 lead. It never enabled us to get on the front foot but just before half time I thought we started to get going and Nero went in for the try, after some good work from a lot of players and that sent us in at the break a little bit happier. Chris is in really good nick at the moment and I thought he had a tremendous game for us. Once we had regrouped at half time we came out a different side. It was also very pleasing to do it without OX, who didn't start the game and BK who went off at half time. I thought everyone did really well and particularly Strangey who had to slot in at Scrum Half. He played really well and got us round the park. I think all the boys stood up to be counted and we didn't let the changes we had to make affect us too much.
Both myself and Heath managed to get over for tries as well!! We had both scored in the Challenge Cup but that doesn't count with the boys as far as the naked run is concerned!! So to both get one in the same game was awesome really but we are both daft and we'll probably do it anyway!! I picked up the Man of the Match Award and that was very pleasing. I have had the Man of the Match before against Wakey but over the years Belle Vue has been a bit of a bogey ground for me. It's a very tough place to go and I haven't had much success there in the last few years, so last week was very pleasing. I was just happy for all the boys and getting the Champagne was a bonus for me. It was a good team effort and they all fronted up after the pressure we were under losing the players we did and to score twenty nine unanswered points was tremendous.
We that's all behind us now because this week the Rhinos are in town!! It's the biggest game of the season, especially as it's at Bradford. We were well on top for sixty five minutes at Headingley and we'll take a lot of confidence into the game from that but we know they are playing well and getting the results. They are coming off the back of a great result against Warrington and their form has been formidable in the games leading up to that, so we know they will be coming to the Grattan Stadium with confidence but hopefully all our fans will turn up and make it a real fortress for us. It's a local derby and it doesn't get much bigger than that. I will be really pumped up for it but it will be a tough game like all derbies are.
Last Saturday we had the Ladies Night at the Cedar Court Hotel and it was a very good night. It's great for the supporters and it's a great fund raiser for the club. Having asked round the tables everyone really enjoyed themselves. It's a great way to take the Mickey out of the boys and for the boys to take it out of themselves. One or two of them weren't too keen to get their shirts off but I'd like to thank all the boys who did the dance with me. There were seven this year instead of three, so thanks to Mike Worrincy, Nick Scruton, the Burgess twins, Tom and George, Heath, Elliot Whitehead - I don't think I have missed anyone out there - and it went well and it was a great night.
Today we went Paintballing as a squad and we have had quite a few team building events this year. We came in early and did our training and then we went off the Brighouse to have a bit of fun at the Paintballing Centre there. It was a great laugh and Andy Senior, the Masseur, got splattered, so he will be sporting a few bruises and I got picked on for the last game and got peppered and I am sure a lot of the boys will be sporting a few marks tomorrow. They will soon disappear though and it was great fun for everyone and those things only enhance what is already a great team spirit.
I hope as many of you as possible can come down to the Grattan Stadium on Sunday and cheer us on against the Rhinos. We have a busy few weeks with some big games coming up and we really need the fans to get behind us!!
