I'M TOP TIPPER!!!
Once again the results went our way last weekend. I thought we were a little bit sloppy with some of our play but we got a very good result and the other results mean we know if we go to Hull on Friday and win, then if Catalans lose at St Helens we have made the Play Off's!!
I don't think anyone envisaged that it would come down to the last game of the regular season a few weeks ago. We were all hoping we could still make it and we made a pact to play well at the back end of the year but I think deep down we all probably thought we would just miss out and that might still be the case. But it's still there and once you have made the finals then, as we have said before, it's a whole new ball game in a new competition.
We needed the Cas V Quins game to go our way last week but it wasn't something we were aware of during our game. We just wanted to concentrate on our game and I thought we started very well, completed our sets and got the early tries. No one told us the score at half time and that's how it should be. We got a little sloppy in our play and we need to get back to what we were doing this last month and we will be OK.
So it's off to the KC Stadium this week for the last game of the season. It's certainly going to be a tough one and I hope we take a lot of support with us and they get behind us. What we can't have is all of us, players and supporters, thinking that we are already in the Finals or else we will get rolled. I am sure they will come out all guns blazing with their best side out there and try and stop us reaching the Play Off's. Hopefully, with the fans behind us, we can come away at the end of the night with something for us all to celebrate.
Of course we need St Helens to defeat Catalans as well but after their defeat last week I don't think Saints will want to go into the Play Off's on the back of two defeats in a row and they are at home and will want to send their supporters away happy, so I don't envisage them resting too many players. I think we'll see them with their best side out and making sure they are in good nick for the Finals and if they do than hopefully they will do us a favour.
The Tipping Competition has now finished and I have won!! I got the money today and we all got to go to Nandos for a feed. Beaver, Rikki and BJ were at the bottom and they have had to pay for the other twenty six!! Young James Donaldson was second and as he travels with me, along with Sam, who organises it, there have been some suggestions of fiddling going on!! Well I can tell you it's just not true and it's my knowledge of the sport that's won me the top prize!!
The Cricket is still going on and I see the Aussies have won the first two one day internationals. It's hardly surprising really and if Brett Lee had played in the Tests it would have been a different result!! If we can win another one, that will put real pressure on the Poms and they'll realise how lucky they were to win the Ashes!!
I hope as many supporters as possible can get there on Friday and hopefully we can give you something to cheer about and make the Finals!!
