BACK TO THE BLOG

Firstly can I apologise for not updating this blog last week. Circumstances meant it wasn't possible but here we are for this week!

We have had two very disappointing results once again and there is not much I can really say. There aren't any positives we can take for the past two weeks and we are letting ourselves and the fans down very badly.  At Hull KR, in the first half, I thought we looked much better than them but in critical areas, such as not scoring when we should have and giving away silly penalties that kept letting them out of their half, we weren't very smart and it cost us.  In the second half we played like we didn't know each other, which is very worrying. Each week we all keep saying we are going to turn it round and hopefully we can do it this weekend because we need to.

The one thing that has been good is the team spirit.  The boys are sticking together and we have said that no matter how much bad press we get or negative comments we've got to stick together and try and come through the other end.  Every team goes through a bad patch at some stage of the year and ours seems to be lasting longer than most but we are sticking together and trying to end the season on a positive note.  Believe me we are a much better team than we are showing at the moment.  We have got the quality there to win these games and we are just not doing it.  Maybe a few of the young boys coming through will get a start now and give us that bit more energy that maybe we are lacking at times during games.

Wigan are here on Sunday and from a position similar to ours they have turned things around. They have been on a good role for a few weeks and there is no doubt they will be very tough opponents for us but we know if we want to make it to the finals we have to win virtually every week now.  They are above us and if we can beat those teams above us then it's like a four point turn around.  Like I said they will be tough but we have to stick together and get the game plan ready for this match and this time stick to it.  We need to try and get the win, get that roll on and move up the table.

My injury is coming on OK.  The ribs are still very tender but I am trying to get back on the field as quickly as possible.  I have been speaking to the doctor and he told me he has been playing a lot of darts this weekend so hopefully he will find the right spot and numb the pain so I can get back out there sooner rather than later!!

It's the State of Origin again this week and I am really hoping that the Blues can win this one and stop Queensland from becoming the first side in history to manage a clean sweep.  For a proud Blue, that would be hard to take!!

The first Ashes Test ended in a draw and I was disappointed with England's lack of true spirit at the end of the game with just a couple of overs left.  They sent the Physio on when no one wanted him and Jimmy Anderson needed new gloves after every couple of balls!  It wasn't the right spirit but it showed they have England rattled and I think we have the confidence to go on now and win the Series.  Before the Test I thought the batting would be OK but the bowling would struggle.  It's virtually a new set of bowlers but they showed that are well up for the task.  Unfortunately we didn't get the one wicket we needed but we will be back at them again at Lords this weekend.  I think they'll get the result this time!!
