WOMEN DRAW IN WARRIORS THRILLER TO KEEP PLAY OFF HOPES ALIVE

BRADFORD Bulls Women drew 20-20 in a thrilling Women's Super League clash at reigning champions Wigan Warriors - a last-gasp try from the hosts denying Bradford a deserved two points.

The visitors raced out of the starting blocks and Hannah Donald touched down for her first try since returning from a broken leg.

Reigning champions and fourth-placed Wigan Warriors hit back to lead with two unanswered scores before an Amy Hardcastle try on the stroke of half time.

Wigan re-established their advantage with an early second-half score but Donald's long-range effort levelled matters once more.

Savannah Andrade's late try looked to have secured the spoils for Beth Sutcliffe and Kirsty Moroney's side but an unconverted try in added time ensured a share of the points.

Bradford went into the clash knowing a defeat would end their hopes of a play-off berth in 2019 and quickly set about asserting their authority on the opposition.

The ball went through hands from right to left to Donald, who on just her second appearance since injury, touched down for the game's opening score.

Leah Darbyshire raced clear from halfway to level scores before Hayley Martinus went over from a set play at the base of a scrum.

A superb offload from Lauren Hickey founds the hands of Hardcastle, who dived over to the right of the posts with the half-time hooter imminent.

The home side set about securing their place in the playoffs with a Charlotte Foley try but the visitors would not be deterred.

Donald got her second - racing clear from halfway to bring the scores level before Andrade broke down the right edge to hand Bradford a late advantage.

But on the final play, Emily Baggaley went over in the left corner for parity to break Bradford hearts - the missed conversion leaving door open for the Bulls' play-off charge.
