ACADEMY SIDE BATTLE IN SAINTS DEFEAT IN SEASON FINALE

BRADFORD Bulls Academy produced a battling display to round off the 2019 campaign but fell to a 32-10 defeat at the hands of title- chasing St Helens on Friday evening.

A fast start saw the home side register two scores in the opening quarter before a Bradford response reduced arrears before the break.

The second half began in the same vein as the first with successive Saints tries before Cameron Berry's try.

Two late tries broke Bradford's resistance however to seal the spoils for second-placed St Helens.

The hosts took the lead after just three minutes when John Hutchings capitalised on an error to touch down in the left corner.

A slick move through hands then saw Nico Rizzelli scored in the corner to extend Saints' lead.

Alfie Goddard then got Leigh Beattie's side on the board with Bradford battling back into the contest with half-time approaching.

Kye Siyani barged his way over from close range soon after the break before Lewis Dodd scored on the back of a repeat set.

Berry then went over from dummy half with the visitors refusing to lie down in a thrilling contest at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

But the home side would finish with a flourish despite the Bulls' efforts.
