GETTING TO KNOW: RLC SILVER STARS ARMY PARACHUTE DISPLAY TEAM

THE RLC Silver Stars Army Parachute Display Team will deliver the Match Ball to VIPs ahead of kick off in our Armed Forces Day clash with Halifax RLFC on June 23rd.

All members of the RLC Silver Stars are members of both the Regular Army and the Army Reserves who, when they are not completing parachute training and displays, have full time jobs, be that military or civilian, and willingly assist with these events in their spare time.

All members of the Silver Stars remain available for their duties and, indeed, have served in a  variety of Operational Theatres, including NI, The BALKANS, IRAQ, AFG to name but a few.

The team was founded in 1963 by the RASC and the RE Movement Controllers.  The RCT was then formed in 1965 and, in 1975 we gained our name, the Silver Stars in honour of the Corps cap badge’s 8-pointed, silver star.

Following the formation of the RLC in 1993, the RCT Silver Stars and the RAOC Cannonballs amalgamated to become the RLC Parachute Display Team, the Silver Stars. The name was retained, with the RCT’s 8 pointed “star” still forming the basis of the RLC cap badge and the Silver Stars’ insignia today.
