Brandon Pickersgill has spoken of his intent to build on his breakthrough year in the red, amber and black in 2018 – having recently put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal with the club.

The rising star has enjoyed his most profitable campaign to date under John Kear, making 28 appearances in the promotion-winning campaign.

11 tries from full-back and a series of impressive performances earnt the 21-year-old a nomination for the Betfred League One Young Player of the Year alongside team-mate Ethan Ryan.

The Bradford-born star did scoop the club’s Young Player of the Year award at the club’s VisionOn awards ceremony last week however and has paid tribute to his team-mates.

“It has been a good year for me personally and it is always good to get the recognition from your teammates and coaching staff,” said Pickersgill, who is sponsored by The Red, Amber and Black Forum.

“The boys have been sensational all year, everyone has been working tirelessly and I cannot do what I do without the work from the big boys down the middle.

“The first game against York stood me in good stead and I have been learning a lot from the likes of Gregg McNally and working under John [Kear].

“Signing a two-year deal was an absolute no brainer for me and I was over the moon to sign and secure my future.

“I know this is where I want to play and I want to develop my game here and help get the club back where it belongs.

“Hopefully now I can push on next year, like I have this year and I am looking forward to getting back in pre-season.”
