KEYES READY FOR WELSH ENCOUNTER

This Sunday Joe Keyes pulls on the Ireland jersey to represent his national side for the first time this World Cup as they take on Wales in their third fixture of the tournament.

Following their narrow defeat to Papa New Guinea last weekend, Keyes will be introduced into the halves to add an injection of attacking flair alongside Super League half back, Liam Finn.

“I’m very honoured. I’ve played for them for a couple of years now but never in a World Cup so now I have the opportunity to represent my family, which is a massive thing for me,” said Keyes.

"I'm over the moon to have been selected to start for Sunday's game. The boys have been doing really well so far at the competition, I just want to get out onto the field and do my best for my country.

“I’m nervous and excited, I’ve never done a major tournament before so it is all quite exciting and new to me.”
